Irrigation scheduling for potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) under drip irrigation in an arid region using AquaCrop model

Potato is one of the key food crops and China largest potato producer in world. However water scarcity major constraint to increase productivity arid regions such as Ningxia northwest where this crop extensively cultivated. The overall objective study was optimize irrigation for cultivated under drip irrigation. To do this, AquaCrop model calibrated validated using data obtained from two years field experiment. Then, used simulate growth tuber yield response 30 different schemes scenarios. evaluation parameters namely, root mean square error ( RMSE ), index agreement d normalized NRMSE ) coefficient determination R 2 showed that could with treatments reasonable accuracy. Furthermore, has increased increasing amount total irrigation; however, begins decline when exceeds 2500 m 3 ha -1 . also found optimum schedule 20 mm quota at 7 days cycle (i.e., 1800 or 180 irrigation). above scheduling achieved 46.77 t 15.74 kg -3 use efficiency. These findings may be evaluated cultivation across climate soil conditions wide applicability
